Currently I’m singing “Papa Don’t Preach” to my husband but using “Stanley” instead of “Papa”.

The Voice Season One > all other seasons especially the current one.

Maybe it has to do with the influx of untalented white people over the seasons. Kills the whole point of the show - talent based on sound not looks. If I wanted to watch subpar performers, I’d watch “American Idol”.

Currently watching.

One of my closest friends I have made in the last few years is Detroit born-and-raised. We’ve had many talks about the country turning a blind eye on Detroit and outsourcing jobs so the owners of whatever company can make more money. One thing she taught me is that the people of Detroit will fight. They have a pride and a drive that has tried [sometimes in vain] to defy their double digit unemployment for the last few decades. Those are good, hardworking people who did not deserve to be “rewarded” for their work by losing their livelihood.

I have had romantic thoughts of taking a company to Detroit. Buying up land, making a state of the art facility with a gym, day care, and all the bennies possible. Hell, making some apartments for employees who need company housing. It’s idealistic, I know, but I think people have forgotten what cities like and workers in Detroit did to help build the States. Detroit just needs another chance to boom.
