Am I missing anything?

I booked my mum’s and my flight to England. I’m looking into what I need to do for my iPhone to still use it abroad to some degree. From what I could Google it seems I should turn fetch off under “mail, contacts, calendar”, turn airplane mode on, function strictly on WiFi, and utilize the Skype app.

Anyone who has been abroad recently, would you recommend getting an international data pack or should I just do the aforementioned steps to avoid roaming charges?

Nan, put the kettle on

My postponed Japanese honeymoon time range looks as though it’s becoming a mother-daughter return to the motherland.

Mum told Nan about the idea and now Nana is super excited. I think I should follow through no matter what.

Hell, last time I was there was 16 years ago… I won’t have time to get my BP so my US Passport will be fine - I need to do the footwork though. :-/

emergency exit row (by Sara Flemming)

Rode on this bad boy to SD and it was fabulous. I didn’t even notice take-off or landing as I was too busy playing Mahjong unlike Southwest to LV where I agonized over every minute airborne. Everyone absorbed the fun, positive ambiance and it showed - no criers, no screamers, no belligerence. Fly VA if you can!

Haha, The New Yorker has a collection online of airport security-themed cartoons published well before the current TSA brouhaha—the earliest dating back to 1938.  This one is by Ed Fisher and ran in the September 8, 1972 edition.  Click on the cartoon for more.
Same as it ever was; same as it ever was.

How coincidental: my friend and I were talking about wearing bathrobes to the airport so we can easily flash the TSA agents instead of being groped.

Mount Ōmine and traditional misogyny

Mount Ōmine
Making the climb…

Entering the temple grounds…
No Women Allowed
What!?!?
Top of Mt. Ōmine
No girls allowed!!

I’m totally going to go here when I go to Japan and take a picture of me crying in front of the sign banning women.. :-( I love how the scapegoat is “for religious reasons” but then again most misogyny is rooted in traditions and religions.
